I’m Bridget MacKay with MacKay Dressler Law Firm. And as Mother’s Day approaches, I want to reflect on how important it is for mothers to want to protect and love their children. We all do, right? And when they’re young, we’re doing those things to keep them safe, support them into adulthood, and make sure that they’re protected. But as our children age and become adults, maybe we’re not thinking as much around that.
And I want to suggest to you that this is actually probably the best time, and you can still support and protect your children by putting an estate plan in place for your own wealth. This would give your children clarity. It would sort out any disagreements between siblings because of maybe some loans given earlier on. It would give them a sense of peace of mind so that when you pass away, everything is ready to go, and there will be no disagreements between your children.
In the past, we used to make sure their milk glasses were equal before we handed them out to them, right? This is another way of doing this with your estate plan. So I hope during Mother’s Day, you give your family the most loving thing you can do. And that’s a sturdy estate plan that will last years, and support them even after you’re gone.
